Preschool
Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Preschool Ministry of Deep Creek Baptist Church. You and your child are very special to us. The information in this brochure has been provided to alleviate any apprehensions you may have when leaving your child in our care, and to make you aware of the different aspects of this area of ministry. Whether you are leaving your newborn, toddler, preschooler, or kindergartener—we want to provide a safe, fun, loving and learning environment, which will nurture the relationship your child has with God. We look forward to further ministering to you and your family.

In His Service,
The Preschool Staff
Background Checks
It is normal for pre-school and children volunteers to have passed a criminal background check.
Security System
No child (babies through kindergarten) will be admitted into any classroom without a security form. You should fill out a form completely each time you bring your child. The teacher will keep a copy, and you will receive the duplicate. When the child is to be picked up, knock quietly at the door and slide your copy under the door. If the information matches, your child will be released. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to drop off or pick up a child.
Paging System
If you are needed for any reason while your child is in our care, we will contact you. If you are in a Bible study, someone will get you from your class. If you are in the Worship Center and you are needed, the last 3 digits of your phone number will appear on the message board so that you may come to the Preschool area to receive or console your child.
Ministry Goals
Regardless of your child’s age, he will be taught of God’s love-through words, songs, Bible verses, hands-on activities, and lessons. The Preschool Ministry Staff follows a well-organized curriculum, so that your child may learn at an age-appropriate level. We want to provide a nurturing and safe environment, so that parents can freely attend worship or Bible studies. We also want to partner with parents—the job of training and teaching children is an awesome one, and we hope to be a help by providing information and support to you and your family.
How We're Organized
Nursery
New babies begin in our Baby “A” class. As your child begins to crawl, he will be moved to Baby “B.” When walking, he’ll be moved to Baby “C.” Please make your child’s teacher aware of his/her developmental milestones, so that we may best meet the needs of your baby.

Preschool
One-year-olds through kindergarteners will be promoted every year in September. They are placed in classes according to their birthdays, so that they will be in a class specifically designed for their developmental abilities. You will be notified when promotion will occur.
Illness Policy
We ask that you keep this brochure in a place that will be convenient for you to refer to when your child is ill, so that you may know if he/she is within the illness policy guidelines. If your child has any of the following symptoms, we ask that you do not bring your child. We want to protect your child, other children, and the workers from unnecessary exposure to illness.

DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD WITH:
*Fever– Currently or within the previous 24 hours.
*Vomiting or diarrhea-even associated with teething or medical condition.
*Common cold-from onset through one week.
*Runny nose with yellow/greenish discharge.
*Sore throat.
*Croup.
*Any unexplained rash.
*Any symptom of childhood disease (i. e. scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, strep throat, flu, etc. or any infectious or contagious disease).
*Fifth disease.
*Any skin infection-impetigo, boils, ringworm.
*Eye infection-pink eye or drainage (All eye infections are contagious. The child must be on medication for 24 hours before entering the classroom.)
*Persistent cough.
*Any communicable disease.
If your child develops any of these symptoms/conditions while in our care, we will notify you immediately.
What We Ask of Parents

In the baby/ones area, we ask that only one parent drop off and pick up the child. For infants, one parent may enter the room to drop off or pick up the child and to gather his/her belongings. Otherwise, no adults other than teachers will be admitted into Preschool rooms. We require this for the safety of our children and to create a quiet and teaching environment.

Label all items brought by your child.

Please do not send toys with your preschooler. Children will not be allowed to play with toys from home.

It is not required that you serve in the Preschool Ministry, but we hope that you will work and pray with us as we help lay the foundation necessary for your child to grow up knowing Christ’s love. Volunteering in this area of ministry ensures quality teaching and Bible learning for the children of our church.
